My Journey
My Journey
I started playing Golf at the age of 6. The reason I got into Golf was my dad. A lot of times I went with him when he went to play Golf. On one of those days after the round finished, I asked my dad if I can try it out and it was from that moment on when I fell in love with this Game.
From this day I went to play Golf every moment I was able to and then set my ambitions to one day play on the PGA Tour. With the age of 9 and 10 I won the 10 and under Swiss Championship. Then with the ages of 11 and 12 I won the 12 and under Swiss Championship. After those achievements I got quite shocker of a message. I experienced a lot of pain when walking and running. After a few tests and X-rays, the doctors found a cause. Because my left hip is too short there was the risk that my leg could dislocate while doing any movement.
Therefore, I had to get an operation a few months before my 13th Birthday. After 3 months of rehab, I was able to start to play Golf again. In my first tournament back, I finished 3rd in the under 14 Swiss Championship. In the following year I knew that I would need a follow up operation which is usually the case in these type of hip operations. Luckily, I could plan that operation so I could put it into the offseason at the end of the year of 2016. In this year I was able to play for the U14 Swiss National Team for the first time in Switzerland. In the same year I also finished 2nd in the U14 Swiss Championships. By the start of the year 2017 I decided to move to the KeNako Academy in South Africa.
Towards the end of that season while playing in a tournament for the U16 Swiss National Team in Italy I started to experience pain in my hip again. This forced me to end the season early and get a third operation. This was caused by an inflammation in the muscle around my hip which happened after the operations. With the operation they could get rid of that pain, and I have been painless ever since. While doing school in South Africa I always travelled back to Switzerland between March and August to play the tournaments in Switzerland and for the National Team. I did this from 2017 till 2019. From 2020 this was not quite possible due to the travel restriction in South Africa regarding Covid 19.
After not being able to play a lot of Tournaments in 2020 with Covid lockdowns canceling all the tournaments and traveling in South Africa. I got to play my first professional event on the IGT Tour, and I was able to finish in the top 10 of the Southern Cape Order of Merit. I was also able to focus more on my AS Level Cambridge degree due to less tournaments being available throughout the first part of the season. Then in 2021 after Lockdowns easing, I was able to play a few tournaments. After finishing inside the Top 50 in the SA Strokeplay, inside the Top 20 at the Cape Province open and achieving to get my first Top 15 on the IGT Tour I decided to turn Professional in the middle of 2021.
I was able to play a few more IGT Tour tournaments with playing consistent golf before cutting the season early due to the Cambridge A Level examination. After successfully finishing my A Level exam I am now taking a gap year in 2022 to fully focus on my Golf Career.
